Unlocking renewables investment in Africa with the launch of the Renewables Investment Platform for Limitless Energy

ReNew2030 celebrates a first in unlocking renewables investment.

With leadership from The African Climate Foundation, the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) has spearheaded the creation of the Renewables Investment Platform for Limitless Energy (RIPLE), a $500 million initiative. The platform’s primary objective is to expand energy access, enhance energy efficiency, and strengthen energy security.

By tackling one of the key barriers highlighted in the ReNew2030 agenda—inadequate investment in renewables and critical infrastructure—, this initiative sets a foundation for harnessing socio-economic benefits associated with scaling up of renewables, focusing on:

  • Accelerating renewable energy deployment by supporting the development, co-hosting, and operation of projects—unlocking cleaner, more reliable power at scale.
  • Reducing dependence on diesel and other fossil fuels, helping cut costs, improve air quality, and shift the country away from high-emissions energy pathways.
  • Expanding electricity access through innovative distribution franchise models—bringing power to underserved communities and businesses.
  • Building local industry capacity through investment in solar PV assembly and manufacturing—creating jobs and strengthening domestic value chains.
  • Driving long-term sustainability by lowering emissions and reinforcing Nigeria’s transition to a more resilient, low-carbon energy future.
